WOMEN WHO WANDER KENYA

Picture this as I would tell it over a good glass of wine on the Dooney ranch on a quiet Canadian evening: not as an itinerary, but as an invitation. Kenya is not merely a destination—it is a feeling, a soft untethering from routine, a place that reminds a woman who she was before the world asked her to be sensible. This trip has been solely designed for the Canadian woman who would like to experience the magic of a Safari to Kenya flanked by felow friends on a trip masterminded by one of Toronto's very own Amanda Dooney in a bid to enlighten her Canadian on why she loves Kenya so much.

From the delightful tropical weather, organic and delicious local food, visiting pristine beaches and game drives on the world's greatest game reserve by the time we are midway through this Safari you will fully understand why Kenya is Amanda's favorite country!

Day One — Arrival in Africa
You arrive beneath the warm equatorial sky at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where Africa greets you not with haste, but with grace. You settle into a comfortable hotel (shared, thoughtfully arranged), and as the evening unfolds, you meet your guides and fellow travellers—women like yourself, curious, accomplished, and quietly adventurous. By nightfall, strangers already feel like companions.

Day Two — Nairobi, Lived Properly
Morning finds you face to face with wonder—either at the elegant heights of the Giraffe Centre or amid the raw beauty of Nairobi National Park, where wild Africa thrives against a city skyline.
Later, you savour Kenya through its flavours—ugali, slow-cooked stews, food that speaks of home and heritage. A spirited nganya ride follows, Nairobi’s joyful rebellion against the ordinary. As evening settles in, laughter carries you through karaoke and cocktails at Vibanda Village—or another lively hideaway—where the night belongs entirely to you.

Day Three — Naivasha: Where the Land Breathes
A gentle two-hour drive brings you to the Rift Valley and the calm waters of Lake Naivasha. You check in early at the refined Enashipai Resort, a sanctuary of space and light.
In the afternoon, a boat glides you across the lake to Crescent Island, where giraffes and zebras wander freely beside you. And for those still humming with energy, the evening offers an optional, carefree escape to Party Island—music, movement, and moonlight.

Day Four — Wild Freedom
This day belongs to exhilaration and restoration. You cycle through the dramatic gorges of Hell’s Gate National Park, a place so cinematic it feels imagined. By afternoon, you sink into geothermal springs, letting mineral waters soothe body and spirit alike—a quiet, indulgent reward.

Day Five — Into the Maasai Mara
You depart in the morning and arrive by early afternoon at the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve. After lunch, the savannah opens itself to you on a first game drive—lions in repose, elephants in procession, the land alive with meaning.
As dusk falls, a bonfire crackles. Goat roasts slowly over flame. Stories are shared under a sky impossibly full of stars.

Day Six — Above the World
Before dawn, you rise. Wrapped in warmth, tea and coffee in hand, you ascend silently in a hot-air balloon, drifting over the Mara as the sun spills gold across the plains. A champagne breakfast awaits you in the bush—civilised, celebratory, unforgettable—followed by another game drive that feels richer for having seen the land from the sky.

Day Seven — The Long Gaze
A full day in the Mara allows time to linger. No rushing, no counting hours. Just wildlife, wide horizons, and the rare pleasure of being fully present.

Day Eight — To the Indian Ocean
You board a charter flight with Mombasa Air, trading savannah gold for coastal blues. After lunch and hotel check-in, the afternoon is yours—unstructured, indulgent. Perhaps a long seaside meal at Nomad Beach Bar, or something equally elegant.
The ocean hums softly. Time loosens its grip.

Day Nine — The Ocean, Unveiled
This morning belongs to the sea. You drift across crystalline waters in a glass-bottom boat, watching coral gardens and tropical fish perform their quiet ballet beneath your feet. For the adventurous spirit, optional watersports beckon—playful, invigorating, entirely optional.
As evening approaches, dinner becomes an event rather than a meal. Perhaps beneath the stars at Ali Barbour’s Cave, carved from ancient coral; or seaside elegance with Ocean Sports; or the rustic charm of the Crab Shack, where the ocean is both soundtrack and companion.

Day Ten — Echoes of Time
Today, Kenya reveals her memory. You step into history at Fort Jesus, where centuries of trade, conquest, and culture linger in coral stone—or wander through the haunting beauty of the Gedi Ruins, reclaimed gently by forest and silence.
By afternoon, you return to Nairobi by air, the journey brief but reflective. Evening brings supper and check-in, a soft landing back in the capital, where the city greets you like an old acquaintance.

Day Eleven — Nairobi, One Last Embrace
Your final full day unfolds at an unhurried pace. You ascend the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, taking in sweeping views that remind you how far you’ve travelled—geographically, and otherwise.
Lunch is local and unpretentious, followed by leisurely souvenir shopping: hand-woven baskets, carved wood, beads that carry stories home. A visit to a children’s home offers a moment of connection and perspective—quiet, humbling, deeply human.
Your farewell supper is served in style, either at Ankole Grill or Thyme, where conversation lingers and goodbyes are softened by shared memories.

Day Twelve — Departure
Morning arrives gently. Bags are packed, hugs exchanged, promises made. You fly home carrying more than photographs—there is a new steadiness in your step, a brightness in your spirit. Kenya, having welcomed you fully, now lets you go, certain you will never be quite the same again.

This journey is not about ticking boxes. It is about remembering what it feels like to be curious, radiant, and entirely alive. Kenya has a way of doing that to women—especially those wise enough to say yes when adventure comes calling.

CITY SAFARI

We will enjoy a slow city safari while in Nairobi to show off Kenya's beauty as the only capital worldwide with a National park within it's borders. You will get to feed endangered Rothschild giraffes and pet orphaned elephants that are nursed to the point that they can be released into the wild once they can fend for themselves.
