LINNAEUS UNIVERSITY SAFARI

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi where our guests will be transferred to the Trademark Hotel where they will get to relax and acclimatise to the new surroundings at the Village Market Mall.

Day 2: Our guests will be picked up at 6am for a Morning City Safari at Nairobi National Park (Nairobi is the only city worldwide with a National Park in the city) which will be followed by a visit to the nearby Giraffe Center to meet and feed the endangered Rothschild Giraffes then we will have lunch at Cultiva followed by an afternoon visit to the Karen Blixen Museum to have an idea of what colonial Kenya was like through the eyes of one of Denmark's finest writers in Isak Dinesen. After this visit, the travelling party will be driven back to the hotel to relax and prepare for the following day's journey to Samburu!

Day 3: We will depart from the Trademark Hotel at 6am on our specially built Safari Landcruisers on a scenic 6 hour road trip to Samburu (everyone is guaranteed a window seat) where we will stop on the highway for photos with the regal Mt.Ololokwe in the background (these photos would make for good prints to hang over the fireplace back home) before heading to the lodge to recharge, refresh and take lunch. Our students will spend the afternoon at the lodge settling into the new environment lounging at the pool (everyone is guaranteed one neck and back massage during the stay in Samburu) with a Sundowner lined up over some drinks and bitings.

Day 4: We will have a Morning game drive at Samburu National Park to spot the Samburu Five ( Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy's Zebra, Somali Ostrich and the Reticulated Giraffe) with a Sundowner slated for the evening back at Camp.

Day 5: Morning departure for RETETI Elephant Sanctuary to see the wonderful work the local community is doing in the conservation of Elephants and Giraffes where the guests will get to watch the Elephants get their milk and be educated on the objectives of running this sanctuary. After this visit, we will be taken on a tour to meet the Rock painting Warriors of Samburu to learn how they started their craft and where their inspiration comes from.

Fun Fact: Lewis Hamilton paid a visit to this sanctuary during his 2022 Kenya Safari.

Day 6: We will have an on-foot Black Rhino tracking experience with armed rangers on guard (This is a magical Kenya experience that is definitely worth bragging to friends and family back home! The best part is that you will have photos to prove it!) Afterwards, we will visit a Samburu Village for a cultural immersion experience to learn the millennia old traditions and lifestyle of the butterfly people before heading back to the lodge for lunch. At 7pm we will have a night-time game drive which will be a different experience from the usual Morning game drives.

Day 7: Morning departure from camp for the Airstrip for a connecting flight to the coastal paradise of Watamu via Nairobi. Our guests will be picked up from Malindi Airport for the Temple Point Resort where they will get to settle in their respective rooms before having a barefoot stroll on the beach after taking lunch. In the afternoon we will enjoy watching the sun set over drinks and some music at East Africa's best beach bar, Lichthaus with some SUP boards just in case anyone would like to paddle.

Day 8: At 10am we will depart the hotel on Tuk-Tuk's (here we will travel the same way as the locals ) to the Watamu Snake Park to see the reptiles on display, be educated in the role that horses play in the development of anti-venom as well as to watch a venom extraction exercise of either an Egyptian Cobra, Black or Green Mamba! Afterwards, we will be driven to the Gedi Ruins, an ancient Arabic civilisation that was founded in the 11th century and abandoned in the 15th century after the arrival of the Portuguese. This tour will be led by our Coastal Region Head Guide, Ainsworth who is an expert on East Africa's coastal region. Afterwards we will leave for the hotel for lunch and in the evening we will have a Sunset dhow ride on the Indian Ocean.

Fun Fact: Gedi ruins is a UNESCO world heritage Site.
